Biography
Daniel Bolshoy started studying music at the Academy of Arts and Science in Jerusalem, Israel, and continued at the Arts Canterbury High School in Ottawa, Canada. He studied with Garry Elliott and Stephen Rollins at Carleton University and continued his Bachelor of Music Degree with Eli Kassner and Norbert Kraft at the University of Toronto. Daniel graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor and Master of Music Performance Degrees (Magna cum Laude) under the supervision of world-renowned performer Ricardo Iznaola. Currently Daniel is an instructor of classical guitar and a lecturer on guitar history at the Indiana University School of Music.

Mr. Bolshoy has performed recitals in Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Israel and the USA. He has been regularly featured in the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. He has also performed in the Halifax Guitar Festival, the Début Young Artists Concert Series in Montreal, and the CBC/NAC Debut series at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa (broadcast on CBC Radio Two nationwide). Daniel Bolshoy has been featured on CBC Radio Two on several other occasions, in recital at the National Gallery of Canada and the National Library of Canada. Daniel has also been invited to perform on series such as Debut Atlantic, The Ottawa Chamber Music Society regular season and the Israel International Guitar Festival.

Daniel won several top prizes in music competitions amongst which are the Canadian Music Competition, the Ben Steinberg Music Competition, the Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Artist Competition, The Douglas Sholin Memorial competition, and the Stevens Competition in Arizona where he received a guitar made by Eric Sahlin as part of the first prize.

Daniel Bolshoy’s recitals have been broadcast on CBC, SRC and CJRT classical music radio stations as well as various television networks in Canada.
