New Pro Arte Guitar Trio ~Juliet Abrahamson Cambridge Summer Recitals Performance Master Class More Info Biography The Trio has recorded five highly acclaimed CDs on the ASV label, 'Three Guitars', 'Arabesque', 'Brazileira', 'America' and 'Danzas Fantasticas'. The latest CD (Classic FM Record of the Week) features the new flexible approach to instrumentation. Where needed, a higher pitched Requinto guitar is used to extend the range and achieves a distinctive sound. When three standard guitars are used, melodic interest is shared by the performers to create a true chamber music rapport. The group regularly gives concerts throughout the UK including several London recitals at the Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall and on BBC Radio and Television. The Trio now regularly undertakes tours throughout the USA. Arne Brattland recently joined the trio and, with the change of personnel, it was decided to amend the ensemble's name to the New Pro Arte Guitar Trio. The New Pro Arte Guitar Trio's varied and entertaining concert programmes are suitable for every type of audience. In addition, lecture recitals, guitar ensemble workshops and masterclasses plus a special programme for schools are also available. Individual Biographies Cornelius Bruinsma studied at Colchester Institute where he took an honours degree in music; he went on to postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Gerald Lee where he gained his Advanced Soloist Certificate and Licenciate diploma. Comelius is a founder member of the Pro Arte Guitar Trio and in this capacity he has recorded four CDs for ASV. He has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe. Arne Brattland is a Norwegian classical guitarist who studied at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo. His Norwegian debut was in 1983. Further studies in London led to an internationl debut at the Wigmore Hall in 1988. Arne has toured extensively in Scandinavia and Britain, and has also visited Poland, USA, Canada and Portugal to give concerts. He has issued three solo recordings and three trio CD's as well as his own publications of Grieg's Lyric Pieces for solo guitar, and has been a frequent guest at Norwgian radio and TV. He is a member of the Norwegian based Arctic Guitar Trio, and also performs in the Adamson-Brattland Duo with his wife. The New Pro Arte Guitar Trio has a highly distinctive and original sound. The Trio is a collaboration of three outstanding guitarists whose aim is to widen the sound-world of the guitar ensemble, exploring many different styles. The new flexible approach to instrumentation - featuring a higher pitched requinto guitar - allows the trio to perform both original works and arrangements.
